SUCCESS STORIES
CEN Recognizes the Achievements of Russell Porath and Jeff Furman
This year, two individuals who were involved in training for work at the Amsterdam Print enclave, have taken the skills they learned, and obtained employment with other Amsterdam employers. Amsterdam Printing Company is proud to have had a role in helping these two individuals become more involved in their community.
Last October, Russell Porath decided that he was ready to test his ability to work at Wal-Mart. With the services of his job coach, Russell was able to master all of the responsibilities of his new job as a stock clerk, and he quickly became a valued and popular member of the Wal-Mart team. In May of this year, Russell was promoted to a new position within the store, and after again working with his job coach to ensure excellent job performance, he has just completed his first year of service.
Jeff Furman, who also honed his work skills at the Amsterdam Printing Company site, has recently been hired as a service clerk at Price Chopper. Jeff is diligently working to build his stamina and tolerance for this very different kind of work. His job coach has been his cheerleader and moral support, helping Jeff to eliminate nagging doubts about his ability to do the job. After just eight weeks on the job, Jeff has improved his skills considerably, and is becoming more comfortable in his new role. He is making new friends, and building self-confidence.
Liberty is proud of the associations with the many employers in Montgomery County who have helped us to ensure equal employment opportunities, and to fully integrate men and women with disabilities into the community workforce. Posted 051007 |
