The Town of Glenville will launch a new series of concerts and movie nights in August at Indian Meadows Park.
The series, called Thursdays in the Park, will take place all five Thursday evenings of that month. It is the town’s first effort to use the popular Droms Road park for activities other than athletics, part of what Town Supervisor Chris Koetzle said is an effort to promote more community events.
The events will take place near the entrance to the field complex, where a berm creates a natural amphitheater.
“People will be able to spread blankets on the hill, with the acts at the bottom of the hill,” Koetzle said. “It’s really the first time we’ve tried something like this in Glenville. We have a venue where people could come and enjoy a nice evening in the park.”
The schedule calls for the band The Legendary Characters to perform on Aug. 3, with the movies “Sing,” on Aug. 10, “E.T.” on Aug. 17, “Grease” on Aug. 24 and the blues-rock band Mother Judge on Aug. 31. All events will begin at 7 p.m., and all events are free.
