Liberty ARC, a 501 (c)3, non-profit organization, was founded in 1957 by parents of children with developmental disabilities.

These dedicated, caring parents wished to establish special education programs and support groups in the local community. This grassroots effort has grown exponentially over the past six decades but Liberty ARC has stayed true to the original vision- offering top-quality programs and services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. While, still staying committed to our framework the agency established, we have grown to include employment/vocational, residential, day supports, family support and health-related services to more than 580 individuals throughout Montgomery County.

Awards & Honors

CQL Re-Accreditation

Since 2005, Liberty ARC has received excellence in accreditation from The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL). This high industry honor was, once again, achieved in 2018 when the agency was reaccredited with CQL’s highest recognition, Person-Centered Excellence | With Distinction. This highest level of accreditation is the most stringent quality standard for human service organizations.

Liberty ARC has previously received CQL accreditation; four-year awards in 2014 and 2009 and two-year awards in 2007 and 2005.

TU Top Workplace

This past April, Liberty ARC was named a 2020 Top Workplace by the Albany Times Union for the second year in a row. This prestigious, Capital Region award, is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey. The anonymous survey, taken by Liberty ARC employees, measured several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection.
