Assistant Director of the Year: Tamara Schmidtmann

I am Liberty Story: Assistant Director of the Year: Tamara Schmidtmann. Headshot of Tamara Schmidtmann.

Congratulations to Tamara Schmidtmann for being named the 2025 Assistant Director of the Year at Liberty ARC!

“Being named as Employee of the Year is such an honor. I would never imagine that my passion to support people to live their best lives would have me named as Assistant Director of the Year,” said Tamara an Assistant Director of Operations in the upper region of Montgomery County.

Tamara first came to the agency in 2010 working as a relief staff for several of the Day Habilitation programs. She then moved to work as a Relief Awake Night for the flexibility the shift provided in order to be home during the day with her three small children while also pursuing a college degree. Upon graduating from college, Tamara worked as a Medicaid Service Coordinator and transition with Care Design NY.

But Tamara was drawn back to Liberty ARC. In March of 2021, Tamara returned as an Auditor in the Corporate Compliance Department and was then promoted to an Investigator before accepting her current Assistant Director role.

“I enjoy working alongside staff whenever possible with the everyday care of the people we support because ultimately, they are the reason I am here and love what I do,” Tamara said. “Wanting to help people is what originally drew me to Liberty ARC. As I moved up the ladder within the agency, I love what I do here at Liberty ARC even more. Helping people live their best lives is so important to me and what keeps me pushing to do better each and every day.”

The relationships Tamara has formed over the years with those she supports and the memories they share is very important to her.

“I have built several relationships with people here at Liberty ARC that I will forever hold close to my heart,” Tamara said. “One of my favorite memories is bringing one of the people we support home with me for the Holidays to spend time with my family. My children love having him over and spending time with him. He looks forward to this and it is clear how such a small gesture creates a huge impact.”

Once again, congratulations, Tamara, on this wonderful achievement and thank you for your unwavering commitment to Liberty ARC and the people you support!
