Advancing at Liberty ARC

Liberty ARC is pleased to announce the promotion of Austin Barnes as the agency’s Assistant Director of IT.

In his new role, Austin helps support the day-to-day operations of Liberty ARC’s IT department, working closely with the Director of IT to ensure continued service excellence and innovation across Montgomery and Schenectady Counties.

“Being promoted to this position shows me that my supervisor truly respects and trusts me to be a senior leader of our department,” Austin said. “To be involved in decision making at this next level is something I take very seriously. In this new position, I am most excited for the chance to get even further involved in the strategic planning and long-term goals for our department and the agency altogether.”

Austin has played in integral role in the success of the IT Department in Schenectady County for the past eight years, beginning his career in 2018 as a computer technician. Since then Austin has made several internal moves, including as a Support Specialist and Systems Manager, in the IT Department before his most recent appointment.

“For the past two years, Austin has played a key leadership role during our agency unification, helping to ensure a seamless systems integration and IT transition across various platforms,” said Tim O’Brien, Liberty ARC’s Director of IT. “His deep institutional knowledge, steady leadership, and collaborative spirit make him exceptionally well-suited for this position.”
