Beach-Bound with Liberty ARC

Wouldn’t it be great to have the opportunity to visit a vacation destination as part of your job? Do you enjoy seeing the happiness on peoples’ faces when you help them experience something amazing for the first time?

If so, why not consider applying for a job as a Direct Support Professional at Liberty ARC?

Jen Payst, a Residential Assistant Manager at the agency, recently had the opportunity to visit a vacation destination along with two individuals she supports.

“We all had a fantastic time,” she said. “Everything went smoothly and we all had fun.”

Jen and her coworker took two individuals – Tasha Veeder and Ryan Howell – to Mystic, Connecticut, where they stayed in an AirBnB and visited local hot spots.

“We went to the Mystic Aquarium and we got dinner at Mystic Pizza and then we visited the beach,” she said. “Tasha was so excited the first night we were there that she wanted to see everything and she loved that this was her vacation and she could do whatever she wanted. Ryan was excited because it was his first time seeing the ocean.”

Jen said it was nice to get away and be by the ocean, but she particularly enjoyed seeing Tasha and Ryan enjoy themselves.

“That’s the fun part of this job,” she said, “when you get to the point where the people you support can go to new, exciting places and you get to experience it with them and see them enjoy themselves. This position involves a lot of fun, out of the ordinary opportunities like this.”

Jen’s advice to anyone looking for a position that offers unique opportunities is to apply to Liberty ARC.

“You get to do a lot of fun things, like go to baseball games, go to the movies and visit different places,” she said. “If you’re open-minded and willing to take chances and step out of your comfort zone, then you can experience these opportunities too.”
