Furthering Your Education With Liberty ARC

“I love my job. Things are always changing in my field in Quality Assurance, and I am always learning something new. Schooling with the support of Liberty ARC was a great added bonus to better myself and my career,” Joshua Diaz said.

Joshua is the Quality Assurance Coordinator for Liberty Enterprises, the Manufacturing division at Liberty ARC. He has been with the agency for over five years, starting as a production planner. In the spring of 2022, Joshua graduated from Herkimer County Community College with his Associates of Science Degree in Quality Assurance.

“I decided to go back to school when I was promoted in 2019 to my current role, because I wanted to better myself in my position by learning as much as I could,” Joshua said.

Liberty ARC offers an employee benefit opportunity for those looking to receive a secondary education, which Joshua made the most of. The agency’s Tuition reimbursement and higher education incentive program provides employees the opportunity to advance their education, while alleviating the financial constraint that can come with attending college.

Participants that obtain a grade of a “B” or higher are eligible to apply to receive a reimbursement for their academic expenses at $286 per credit hour, 8 hours per semester, capped at 16 credit hours or $4,576 per year. After an employee receives their degree, Liberty ARC, also offers a base salary enhancement.

“I think if someone is looking to advance at Liberty ARC or wants to better themselves in their current position and if there is a college degree that is in line with what they are doing they should pursue it,” Joshua said. “The reimbursement and enhancement program is a great thing, and it’s nice to know that your employer is supportive of their employees advancing professionally and personally.”

Joshua took all of his classes on-line. He said this was helpful in balancing school as a part-time student and working as a full-time employee. After his day at Liberty Enterprises, Joshua could go home to do his school work.

“There is great flexibility at Liberty ARC,” Joshua said. “I was able to maintain my job, go to school, get reimbursed for my tuition, and receive a bonus all at the same time. It worked out great. It’s a win-win in every aspect.”
